The Lemonade Adventure

As you know, I have been living in London now for a while (four weeks), and I have noticed the British accent and the different words the British use. For example, chips in England are what Americans call french-fries, but we're all still just talking about fried potatoes. That's not the case with lemonade. By the way, both Americans and British call it

lemonade, but lemonade does not mean to the British what it means to Americans. To explain it better, when I was at a restaurant I ordered lemonade, and I was very surprised to see that I had gotten a Sprite! So, I asked the waiter why I had gotten Sprite instead of lemonade, and he said that their lemonade are actually drinks like Sprite or 7-up. This

experience had happened before with my sister at the pub across the street from our house as well. After I had learned about the "British lemonade," I knew I had to look for a lemonade stand to see if anyone knew how to make lemonade with real lemons. And luckily, when I was with my mom and sisters today at Portobello Market, WE FOUND A LEMONADE STAND! I was happy to have found it and the lemonade was so fresh -- like they squeezed the lemon in front of you (it was basically like gourmet lemonade). I was also glad to know that someone in England knows what lemonade as I understand it tastes like. Maybe someday while I am here, I should set up my own stand to see what happens. Portobello Market is pretty awesome, too.
